Continuing her efforts to improve quality of life and reduce noise pollution in communities surrounding airports like O’Hare, Congresswoman Tammy Duckworth (IL-08), Ranking Member of the House Oversight and Government Reform Subcommittee on Transportation and Public Assets, recently cosponsored the Silent Skies Act. The legislation, which was introduced by Rep. Joe Crowley (NY-14), would help expedite the development of technologies to reduce airplane noise encourage commercial airplanes to meet quieter noise standards and suggest airlines modernize their fleets by replacing loud, aging aircraft with new, quieter planes.
