Clinton, Duckworth, Foxx Win Overwhelmingly at Chicago’s 49th Ward Endorsement Session

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–January 26, 2016.  Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, U.S. Senate candidate Tammy Duckworth and State’s Attorney candidate Kimm Foxx emerged as the big winners at last night’s 49th Ward Democratic Party endorsement session. Each garnered more than two-thirds of the membership vote, which entitles them to an automatic endorsement.

Also winning the progressive organization’s nod, were 9th judicial candidate Jerry Esrig and Water Reclamation District Commissioner candidates Tom Greenhaw, Barbara McGowan, Josina Morita, and Mariyana Spyropoulos.

None of the candidates for Clerk of the Circuit court received the two-thirds vote required for an automatic endorsement and the race was referred to the party’s Board of Directors for further consideration.

Unlike the vast majority of Chicago ward organizations, the final endorsement decisions of the 49th Ward Democratic Party are made by the volunteer members of the organization, not the ward committeeman. The members gather in an open meeting, hear from the candidates and cast their vote by secret ballot.

Below are the results of last night’s endorsement session:

Results of Endorsement Session
