"Celebrating Marshall Field’s" will be the topic of our meeting Sunday June 22, 2008, 2:30 p.m. in the Village Hall Board Meeting room, 350 Victory Blvd. The Village plans to have the Field’s building demolished sometime this summer to make way for more Legacy Homes. The Society wants to celebrate what the store has meant to the residents. The panel should havea longtime employee, a shopper who remembers the early days of the store, a younger shopper who also worked there in high school, and a representative form the group who led the demonstration to keep Marshall Field’s in town. We hope to have a small display of Field’s collectibles and of articles on the history of Marshall Field’s in town. Our long time members may remember our meeting in 1994 celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the groundbreaking. See our story on the home page for more details.
