‘Can I See Your Backyard?’ Scam Returns

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Police are looking for two men suspected of trespassing a residence in the 100 block of Blackhawk Street on January 9. A resident reported that he was watching television when a Hispanic male knocked on his door. The man was described as being in his late 20s, between 5’6" and 5’8", 160-170 pounds with short dark hair wearing a white and blue baseball hat and dark pants.

According to the resident, the suspect told him that he was working for a landscaping company and had a contract for the residence located directly behind the resident’s house. The suspect explained that in the past they received complaints about the cut tree limbs being placed in a neighbor’s yards and wanted permission to place limbs in his backyard.

The resident and the subject went to his backyard where the subject pointed out branches that were obstructing the cable and power lines. The resident returned to his house through the back door and entered the living room where he observed a second subject standing in the hallway near his bedrooms.

He questioned the subject as to why he was inside the house. The man said he was looking for his boss. The resident advised him that he was outside. At that time, the resident confronted the subject and attempted to detain him so that he could call 911. The resident struggled with the subject, and they went into the front yard where the resident asked a passerby to call the police.

The second subject is described as a Hispanic male in his mid-20s, between 5’7" and 5’9”, weighing between 185-190 pounds with short dark hair wearing a blue quilted jacket and dark pants.

Nothing was reported stolen from a residence.
