Park Forest, IL-(ENEWSPF)- St. Irenaeus Church will hold a Blue Mass Sunday, March 18, at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 19, marks two years since Park Forest Police Officer Tim Jones sustained two gunshot wounds that almost killed him. Officer Jones continues to recover, and, on Monday, Park Forest will dedicate a stretch of Lakewood Boulevard to him.
Mike Gonzalez, a member of the Knights of Columbus, told eNews Park Forest that he has been working with the Park Forest Police Department to plan the Sunday liturgy at St. Irenaeus.
The Village Board will consider, and most certainly approve, a resolution Monday dedicating a portion of Lakewood Boulevard to the Officer who has inspired many with his resilience and determination.
“With the next Monday’s Regular Board Meeting (March 19th),” Village Manager Tom Mick said, “a resolution will be presented to the Mayor and Board of Trustees dedicating a portion of Lakewood Boulevard after Police Officer Tim Jones. The section of Lakewood, to be noted as Honorary Officer Tim Jones Way, will be from Orchard Drive to Forest Boulevard and the sign will be blue.”
Mr. Mick reflected on the memories from that day two years ago, saying, “It is a day that will live with many of us for the rest of our lives.”
Plans are in the works to have an official unveiling of one of the signs next Monday night at 6:00 p.m. outside in front of the Police Station.
“I am hopeful that Officer Jones and his family will be in attendance,” Mr. Mick said. “Then, if their scheduling allows, Tim will be at the Board Meeting for official presentation of a sign to him and his family.”
