Black Youth Project 100 (BYP100) Chicago Rally to Demand Justice for Rekia Boyd on Thursday, Aug. 20

CHICAGO –(ENEWSPF)—August 18, 2015. On Thursday, August 20th, TheBlack Youth Project 100 (BYP100) Chicago Chapter in coordination with Black Lives Matter Chicago, We Charge Genocide, and Rekia Boyd’s family, will lead a public rally at 7:30 p.m. outside of Chicago Police Department (CPD) Headquarters, 3510 S. Michigan Avenue, to demand an end to police violence against all Black women and girls and to fire Detective Dante Servin; the CPD officer who was dismissed of all charges for murdering Rekia Boyd.

Black women and girls are victims of police violence, but their stories are less highlighted in comparison to Black men that have been victimized by police violence. BYP100 demands that justice is sought for all Black women and girls that are victims of physical, sexual, and structural violence by the police under their #SayHerName Campaign.  Over 8,000 people have supported BYP100’s demand to fire CPD Officer Dante Servin without pension. BYP100 will rally and address the police board directly to demand that Detective Servin is fired from CPD without pension for killing Rekia Boyd, an unarmed Black women.
