Auto Sale Turns Sour When Buyer Doesn’t Pay

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— A resident recently listed her car for sale on the Internet. The buyer she found, however, didn’t care to pay and simply took her car.

According to police, an automobile was reported stolen from the 300 block of Sangamon St. on Tuesday, February 12. The resident reported that she had listed her white 2000 Ford Explorer for sale on Craig’s List. The previous day, she received a call from a woman who said she wished to purchase the vehicle. The woman showed up on February 12, and indicated that she wished to purchase the vehicle for the agreed-upon price of $4200. The two agreed to the transaction.

The woman then told the resident that her purse was in her cousin’s car, and that her cousin was on the way over. The resident took the registration plates off the vehicle, signed the title, and prepared a hand written receipt. The subject then allegedly took the title, recipt, and left, driving the car away without ever providing payment.

The subject is described as a black female, 30 to 35 years of age, approximately 5’4”, wearing a black, light-colored jacket, blue jeans and white shoes. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 708-748-4700.
