Chicago, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Attorney General Kwame Raoul issued the following statement in response to the mass shooting in Aurora, Illinois that claimed five lives. In his statement, Raoul said prayers are not enough, but what is needed is “a comprehensive approach to stem gun violence.”

“I offer my deepest sympathies to the families whose loved ones lost their lives today in Aurora,” Attorney General Raoul said.

“I would also like to thank the members of law enforcement and the first responders who courageously ran toward danger and prevented the additional loss of life. I am praying for the recoveries of the officers injured in the line of duty.

“Prayers are not enough to protect our workplaces, schools, and communities. Every public official must commit themselves to addressing gun violence in our state, and I am committed to working on a comprehensive approach to stem gun violence in communities throughout Illinois.”
