Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—May 30, 2104. President Obama announced today that White House Press Secretary Jay Carney is stepping down. Carney plans to leave the position in mid-June. He informed President Obama of his decision in April. Carney has served as Press Secretary since 2011 replacing Robert Gibbs.
President Obama said Carney “one of my closest friends. He’s got good judgment. He has good temperament and he’s got a good heart, and I will miss him a lot.”
President Obama announced that deputy press secretary Josh Earnest will step into the role.
