Occupy Pittsburgh Activists to Protest PNC Bank

Pittsburgh, PA—(ENEWSPF)—October 25, 2011.  Occupy Pittsburgh members and supporters will protest PNC Bank (NYSE: PNC) on Tuesday, October 25th. Demonstrators will rally together at the encampment site at Mellon Green from 11:30 AM until noon when a march will leave for PNC’s global headquarters on Liberty Ave.

Participants will protest PNC’s funding of natural gas drilling operations using hydraulic fracturing techniques known as “fracking,” and the bank’s culture of corporate greed.

After the demonstration unemployed and underemployed Pittsburghers will visit local PNC branches to ask for their own bailouts—in the form of no-interest loans, high return savings accounts, and reductions to their student loan payments.

About OccupyPittsburgh

Known in New York City as OccupyWallStreet, there are now more than 1000 cities in the US and overseas where some sort of occupation-style movement has begun. OccupyPittsburgh has been developed by residents of Southwestern Pennsylvania in harmony and solidarity with the 99% Occupy movement.

Banding together under this theme are people from all age groups and most levels of society who have one thing in common: the desire for a future free of the corporate greed, corruption and undue political influence which has destroyed the economy and made the poor and the middle class poorer while the super- rich continue to thrive.
