ISAF Recognizes Kabul Police

KABUL, Afghanistan–(ENEWSPF)–September 17, 2012  — ISAF appreciates the proactive role of the Kabul Police today in maintaining control of demonstrations. This effort, led by Kabul Police Chief Lt. Gen. Mohammad Ayoub Salangi, clearly demonstrated the professionalism and skill of Lt. Gen. Salangi and his police force.

“We watched his great efforts at peacefully containing the demonstrations.  We all admire his courage and his leadership, and that of his brave police,” Gen. John R. Allen, commander of the International Security Assistance Force, said.

ISAF appreciates the sacrifices of the security forces today, some of whom were reportedly injured during the demonstrations.  We remain grateful to the Afghan people and the Afghan Government for their understanding and support in striving to maintain public calm.

ISAF further reiterates its condemnation of the inappropriate videos that were disrespectful toward the faith of Islam.  The views expressed in these videos are completely contrary to the thoughts and values of the Coalition.
