Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)- eNews Park Forest continues with our series of stellar students from Rich East High School. Mr. Kevin Kredens, the school’s publicity liaison, provides each student a series of the same questions. We are pleased to feature Lakeya Woods, a participant in track and field for four years, basketball for three years and tennis for two years..

Ms. Woods is currently considering Northern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and Governors State University. She will major in mathematics.

Meet Lakeya Woods:

Are you a Park Forest Resident? How long? At Rich East all four years?  I’m not a Park Forest resident anymore but I have attended Rich East all four years.
 
What do you like the most about Rich East?  What I like most about Rich East are my friends and the student-teacher relationships I formed. The teachers really care. The school is pretty small so it’s more like a community. I love the community atmosphere.

Activities/Athletics participated in? I have participated in track and field for four years, basketball for three years and tennis for two years..

GPA/Class Rank. My GPA is 3.545 and my class rank is 15th out of 167.

Teacher{s} and/or coaches who have most inspired you: My statistics teacher, Mr. (Mike) Blomarz has inspired me the most. He always encourages his students to keep working hard and not to slack or become lazy.

ACT: I received a 20 on my ACT.

College choice{s}? Major? I am looking at Northern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and Governors State University. I will major in mathematics.
 
What music is replaying on your ipod or phone these days? I listen to a lot of 90s hip-hop mostly. I like the childhood memories that these songs evoke.

Favorite TV Shows/Books: Silly shows like SpongeBob! I don’t have a favorite book but I love the author, Jodi Picoult.

Junk Foods? Nothing beats a Nestles Crunch bar and a grape Arizona!

Places that you’d most like to visit? I want to visit Mexico and Europe.

Where do you want to be in five years? In ten years?  In five years I want to be into my career and in 10 years, I hope I have started a family.
