Park Forest Nurses Club

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Park Forest Nurses Club meets on the third Thursday of each month from September through May at 7:30 pm at Calvary United Protestant Church, 425 N.Orchard,corner of Lincoln Hwy. and Orchard Dr.  We began the 2011-12 year with our annual smorgasbord  September 15. Our guest speaker , Etel Billig presented "Fieffer's People", a comedic monologue, by  Jules Feiffer. Etel, an actress, director and teacher, is founder of the Illinois Theatre Center, the first professional theater in the South Suburbs. She provided a most delightful and entertaining evening.

 "Choas & Confusion Of Cardiac Drugs [lCarifying by Classifying & Newest Drugs]" was the topic of our 10thh annual seminar, held on Saturday, October 15, 2011 from 9am to 1:15pm at the Oak Lawn Hilton. The program's goal was to introduce a method of understanding the classififaction of cardiac drugs in order to safely administer these drugs.  Deborah Panozzo Nelson RN,MS, APN, CCRN,the presenter, brought 30 years of Cardiovascular Nursing and Education to this program.  [4]CE's approved by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corp. were  earned by attendance. Fees for the program were $65, including materials, and $30 for  student nurses with ID. Proceeds benefit our scholarship fund.

Derek Hartman DC. l discussed "Making Health and Wellness a priopity in Your Life" at our November 17th meeting. ' Plagiocephly" will be the topic of our January 19th meeting presented by Jackie Rycna, Clinical Education Representative from Cranical technologies ,INC. 

The Park Forest Nurses Club has awarded nursing scholarships annually to students who reside in School Districts 227, 206, and 201U since 1957. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of grade point average, citizenship qualities and goal achievement. The scholarships may be renewed each year for students who continue in nursing programs.For further information concerning nursing scholarships, contact Lori Schwartz, Scholarship Chair, at P.O.
