TUCSON, Ariz.—(ENEWSPF)–November 9, 2016.  Kierán Suckling, executive director of the Center for Biological Diversity, released this statement today on Tuesday’s election:

“Donald Trump is a disaster for public lands, wildlife and climate. But America is a nation of laws, not men, and virtually all his environment-destroying policies run contrary to our nation’s bedrock environmental laws. In the face of Trump’s disturbing authoritarianism, the Center for Biological Diversity today redoubles its commitment to upholding the rule of law and the right of all Americans to clean air, clean water, healthy forests, rivers and deserts, and thriving wildlife.

“The hill before us on the most important environmental issues of our age — climate change and the global extinction crisis — just got unquestionably steeper. But this election will spark millions of new people to join us in storming that hill. We will not stand down. We will grow bigger, louder, fiercer.

“It’s no accident that Trump has declared war on both environmental protection and social justice. They are deeply intertwined. The Center for Biological Diversity will redouble its work with the communities Trump has preyed upon — women, African Americans, American Indians, Latinos, Asians, LGBT people and marginalized faiths — to build an enduring freedom and justice movement. In the next four years, we will double the number and power of our supporters from 1.2 million to 2.5 million people.

“Trump’s vision is dark. Dangerous. His election shocks our deepest moral values. But American democracy is strong and its commitment to wildlife, wild places, clean air, clean water and social justice is unwavering. We will regroup, reenergize and carry on the good fight to save life on Earth. We will win.”

The Center for Biological Diversity is a national, nonprofit conservation organization with 1.1 million members and online activists dedicated to the protection of endangered species and wild places.
