NARAL Responds To SCOTUS Action on NC Ultrasound Case

Washington, DC–(ENEWSPF)–June 15, 2015.  Statement of Ilyse Hogue, President of NARAL Pro-Choice America:

“Across the country, Republican Governors and state legislatures are passing bills and signing into law legislation that will restrict health care options for women. Today, even the Conservative-led Supreme Court said that one of these attempts—medically unnecessary ultrasounds which trample the rights of doctors and attempt to shame women—goes too far. Doctors should make medical decisions, not politicians. These forced ultrasound bills are not based on science or medicine, they a tool used by anti-choice politicians to pursue a political agenda. While this is unlikely to stop the obsession some in the this country have with banning abortions, and many important court cases remain, today is a good day for not only women but for doctors and the belief that they should have free speech when discussing health care choices with their patients.”
