With many on the right still urging Trump to deliver on his campaign promise of naming a special prosecutor with the full time task of pursuing  Hillary Clinton, you might expect the former candidate to shy from the limelight. That’s not the case. Instead, Hillary appeared in Washington on Wednesday at an event to celebrate the Children’s Defense Fund, and delivered an emotional address.

“I know this isn’t easy, I know that over the last week a lot of people have asked themselves if America is the country we thought it was,” said the former secretary of state, bringing the midsize Newseum auditorium to a standstill with her emotional address that she capped off by imagining a conversation with her now-deceased mother. “Please listen to me when I say this: America is worth it. Our children are worth it. Believe in our country. Fight for our values. And never, ever give up.”

Hillary Clinton worked for the Children’s Defense Fund as one of her first jobs out of college, and she’s been a supporter of the organization ever since. She told the crowd that appearing there was hard, and that it would have been easy to curl up with a book and “never leave home again.”

But she didn’t.

“Please don’t lose heart, don’t give up on the values we share. Look at the young people we are honoring tonight. If they can persevere, so can all of us,”

Watch her emotional speech below.
