Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— Editor’s Note: We resume our reporting on news from police reports, this week showing some domestic calls. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Montelle D. Lang, 21, of the 200 block of Blackhawk Drive, Park Forest, was arrested on July 11 and charged with criminal damage to property when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Blackhawk Drive to investigate a report of domestic battery.
Sergio Garcia, 27, of the 400 block of Navajo Street, Park Forest, was arrested on July 11 and charged with domestic battery, cruelty to animals, and processed on an outstanding warrant out of Will County on a charge of driving while license was suspended. According to police, a witness observed Garcia allegedly strangling a cat, according to police. The witness started to hit Garcia in the arms in an attempt to break his grasp on the cat. Garcia then allegedly dropped the cat and turned his aggression to the witness by allegedly punching her in the face, according to police.
Bernard Deshawn White, 26, of the 100 block of North Arbor Trail, Park Forest, was arrested on July 11 and charged with domestic battery when police responded to a residence in that block in reference to a report of a domestic disturbance.
Benjamin Roger Ayinde Stevens, 20, of the first block of Huntingwood Road, Matteson, and Christopher L. McDonald, 20, of the 5800 block of Woodgate Drive, Matteson, were arrested on July 13 and issued municipal citations charging possession of cannabis when an officer on patrol observed a vehicle parked on Sherman Street, east of Douglas Street, with the dome light on. As the officer approached the vehicle, he observed a driver and passenger lying back in the front seats. There was a very strong odor of burnt cannabis emanating from the vehicle, according to police. The vehicle was inventoried and then towed, with an administrative seizure placed on the vehicle.
Vickie R. Wilson, 51, of the 5600 block of Walter Avenue, Hammond, was arrested on July 16 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol over .08, improper lane usage, using an electronic device while operating a motor vehicle, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. An officer on patrol observed the vehicle Wilson was driving traveling eastbound on Sauk Trail at a very slow speed, according to police. The vehicle crossed the center lane into an oncoming traffic lane while speeding up and slowing down, according to police. The officer activated his emergency lights, attempting to curb the vehicle. The vehicle pulled into the middle of the roadway in the double left turn lane and stopped, according to police. A breath test administered at the Park Forest Police Department showed that Wilson had a BAC of .132, according to police.
Dalefonte C. Okafor-Smith, 18, of the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive, Park Forest, was arrested on July 16 and charged with one count of domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Blackhawk Drive to investigate a report of domestic battery. Dalefonte allegedly punched a female victim in the right side of her face with a closed fist, according to police.
Darnell L. Calicott, 25, of the 200 block of Boston Street, Chicago Heights, was arrested on July 18 and charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license, obstructing identification, and illegal use of an electronic device while driving. While monitoring traffic, an officer saw the vehicle Callicott was driving and observed the glow and illuminated screen of a cell phone being held by the driver of the vehicle, next to his head, according to police.
Bbing M. Kates, 23, of the 22400 block of South Lawndale Avenue, Richton Park, was arrested on July 18 and issued municipal citations on charges of expired registration and possession of cannabis. An officer patrolling in the area of Western Avenue and Monee Road observed the vehicle Kates was driving on Monee Road from Western Avenue allegedly travel in the wrong lane, cutting off a vehicle that was driving in front. Inside the vehicle, officers found a cigar filled with a green plant material, suspect cannabis, and a clear knotted plastic bag filled with a green plant material, suspect cannabis. The vehicle was seized and towed.
Dashawna I. Milons, 21, of the 100 block of Shabbona Drive, Park Forest, was arrested on July 20 and charged with domestic battery, criminal damage to property, and aggravated assault. Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Shabbona Drive to investigate a report of a domestic dispute.
Paul B. Moore, 44, of the 100 block of Indianwood Boulevard, Park Forest, was arrested on July 20 and charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 100 block of Indianwood Boulevard to investigate a report of domestic battery.
Phillip B. Butowski, 20, of the 2400 block of 222nd Place, Sauk Village, and Rebecca D. Thompson, 22, of the 3600 block of West Stuenkel Road, Crete, were arrested on July 20 when an officer patrolling southbound on Western Avenue approaching Monee Road observed that the rear plate light on the back of a vehicle was not illuminated. Thompson, the driver, was issued a municipal citation charging no rear plate light, and Butowski was issued a municipal citations charging possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cordarro T. Dorsey, 30, of the 600 block of Forsythe Avenue, Calumet City, was arrested on July 23 and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis when an officer patrolling in the first block of Main Street at approximately 1:32 AM observed a vehicle backed into a parking space of the Dollar General store with its lights turned off. The officer observed Dorsey sleeping in the vehicle, according to police. After waking Dorsey, the officer smelled a strong odor of fresh cannabis emanating from inside the vehicle, according to police. The officer also observed a clear, zip lock bag on the floor between the driver’s seat and the driver’s door. The substance inside of the bag had a white/pink color with black speckles mixed in, according to police. The vehicle was towed from the scene per village ordinance.
