CHICAGO HEIGHTS—(ENEWSPF)—May 1, 2018

Prairie State College (PSC) is hosting its 20th Annual Summer Speech Camp, July 9 through July 19, 2018. The camp meets from 1:15 to 5:15 p.m., Monday through Thursday, on PSC’s main campus, located at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

The camp is intended to prepare high school varsity and novice speech team members for fall competition. Participants will get the opportunity to enhance their skills through interactive learning with trained professionals during the summer.

“Preparation is essential to master the art of speech,” said Joshua Green, PSC associate professor of communication. “The staff this year is made up of highly motivated and experienced coaches who are excited to share their knowledge with this year’s speech participants.”

Week one will focus on interpretation, finding material, cutting material and discovering delivery advantages. Week two will cover public speaking, generating ideas, humor and citing sources. During week three, students will be practicing, polishing and performing. The camp will conclude with a performance showcase and awards presentation.

Registration for the camp is underway. The cost is $300 per student.
