Roosevelt University Professor to Share Insights on Chicago’s Economic History on Sept. 16

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–September 2, 2015.  John McDonald, author of a new book on economic development of Chicago since 1820, will share insights about the city’s economic past and future during the Sept. 16 Gerald Fogelson Forum on Real Estate at Roosevelt University in Chicago.McDonald book

A professor emeritus of both Roosevelt University and the University of Illinois at Chicago, McDonald will provide an overview of his sweeping book, Chicago: An Economic History (at right), which will be available to the public for the first time later this month by Routledge Press.

Now in its 17th season, this year’s Fogelson Forum, which is the foremost real estate forum in the industry, begins at 5 p.m. in Room 418 of Roosevelt’s Wabash Building, 425 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago.

Known as “Chicago’s economist,” McDonald has spent more than 40 years studying the local economy and has used a variety of economic models and measures to chronicle everything from the rise and fall of manufacturing in Chicagoland to the important role that infrastructure and innovation will have in Chicago’s future as an economic power.

“No one has ever looked at the Chicago economy as thoroughly as John McDonald and we are delighted to have him share his latest insights on the city’s changing economic landscape,” said Jon B. DeVries, director of the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate at Roosevelt University.
