Roosevelt University to participate in Bike2Campus Week, April 21-25

CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–April 14, 2014.  Roosevelt University is one of 10 higher education institutions in the Chicago area that will be participating in the Chicago Network of Sustainability in Higher Education’s first-ever Chicagoland Bike2Campus Week being held April 21-25.

Roosevelt students, faculty members, administrators and staff are invited to take part in the week’s five-day alternative transit challenge which stresses use of bicycles as a means to reduce emissions, practice healthy lifestyles and learn about bike safety issues.

Bike2Campus is part challenge, part competition.  During the event, students at each higher education institution will be able to track trips to and from campus in an online survey and on social media platforms. Prizes will be awarded to the student and institution with the most biking trips. Grand prize will be a four-year Divvy bike membership with a feature photo of the student biker on the Divvy webbsite. Participants also can take photos of themselves on or with their bikes for posting on social media (tagging #bike2campus) and/or take the Illinois Bicycle Safety quiz and post safety certificates at www.bikesafetyquiz.com for more prizes.

In addition, Roosevelt will be offering a number of fun, safe and engaging events in Chicago and Schaumburg. Visit www.bike2campus.com/roosevelt-university.html for the most up-to-date information on these events as bike2campus week approaches.

Besides Roosevelt, the City Colleges of Chicago, Columbia College Chicago, University of Chicago, University of Illinois at Chicago, Loyola University Chicago, Dominican University, Northwestern University, Illinois Institute of Technology and the School of the Art Institute Chicago also will be participating in the CNSHE event.

The bike2campus week will end with a Critical Mass event, in which cyclists ride throughout Chicago’s downtown area. This event is supported by Divvy Bikes, Chipotle and the Chicago Department of Transportation. For more information, visit www.bike2campus.com or contact Thomas Shelton at [email protected].
