Mazda Recalls 27,149 Mazda B-series Light Trucks, June 7, 2015

Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—June 7, 2015

SUMMARY: Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 Mazda B-series light trucks manufactured from April 17, 2003, through May 2, 2006. The affected vehicles are equipped with a passenger side frontal air bag that may be susceptible to moisture intrusion which, over time, could cause the inflator to rupture upon deployment.

CONSEQUENCE: In the event of a crash necessitating deployment of the passenger’s frontal air bag, the inflator could rupture with metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants, potentially resulting in serious injury or death.

REMEDY: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the the passenger side frontal air bag inflator, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin by the end of July 2015. Owners may contact Mazda at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda’s number for this recall is 8315F. Note: This recall expands and partially supersedes recall 14V773 as to the model year 2004 through 2006 Mazda B-series vehicles only.

NOTES: Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
