  • Category: Local Police Reports

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A pit bull was euthanized after it attacked an 11-year-old girl last week in Park Forest.

Police say the girl was visiting her aunt in the 300 block of Osage Street, sitting on the bed in the bedroom, watching television. Suddenly, her aunt's brown and black pit bull named Soldier ran into the room and began biting the girl on the head and upper back.

Police say the girl's aunt and uncle separated the dog from the girl and rushed her to St. James Hospital in Olympia fields. There she received 20 staples and five stitches in the crown area of her head. The parents said that they simply wanted the incident documented.

The dog was taken to the Chicago Ridge Animal Welfare League where it was euthanized.
