Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Jamell K. McLaurin, 32, 15143 Beachview Terrace, Dolton, was arrested on January 14 and was charged with possession of cannabis, operation of a motor vehicle with a revoked license, no front license plate, one functioning headlamp, and obstructed/tinted front side windows when an officer observed that the vehicle McLaurin was driving westbound on 26th Street near Western Avenue had only one functioning headlight and no front license plate, according to police. A passenger in the vehicle, Kenneth Lindsey, 21, 12339 S. Carpenter St., Calumet Park, was charged with possession of cannabis.

Curtis D. Moats, 34, 11633 S. Vincennes Ave., Chicago, was arrested on January 14 and was charged with domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 200 block of Somonauk Street regarding a report of domestic battery.  According to police, Moats is currently on parole.  Police say they contacted the Illinois Department of Corrections and a parole violation warrant would be prepared and sent to the PFPD.

A 50-inch Panasonic plasma television valued at $2200, a 58-inch Panasonic plasma television valued at $2700, and three watches valued at $400 were reported stolen from a residence in the first block of Thorncreek Drive on January 14.

A set of keys were reported stolen from a person shopping at a business in the 2500 block of Western Avenue on January 14.

A resident told police on January 15 that she had been contacted by a law firm regarding a debt of $1697.89 on a MasterCard account in her name. The resident reported that she never had a MasterCard account. Police are investigating the incident as a possible fraud.

Darius Obanion, 30, 706 Marina Court, University Park, was arrested on January 15 and subsequently charged with one felony count of retail theft when an officer on patrol observed Obanion acting nervously while driving on Western Avenue near Main Street. The officer ran the vehicle’s plate number through LEADS and discovered that the driver had a suspended Illinois driver’s license. When he was pulled over, Obanion allegedly told police, “Officer, I’m going to be honest with you. My driver’s license is suspended.” Inside the vehicle, police discovered three bottles of liquor that had pry marks around the neck of the bottles, consistent with the removal of anti-theft devices, according to police. Police also found an anti-theft device sensor remover in the vehicle and a price-tagging gun.

A carton of cigarettes valued at $40 was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Arcadia Street on January 16.

Thomas J. Burns, 19, 1339 Campbell Ave., Chicago Heights, was arrested on January 16 and charged with possession of cannabis and issued a citation charging failure to dim headlights when detectives on patrol in the area of Western Avenue and Fir Street observed the vehicle Burns was driving had bright lights illuminated and failed to dim them for oncoming traffic, according to police. A passenger in the vehicle, Bryan L. Higgins, 28, 1101 Schilling Ave., Chicago Heights, was also arrested and charged with possession of cannabis.

Abraham Chavez Sanchez, 23, 292 15th St., Chicago Heights, was arrested on January 17 and charged with criminal damage to property, aggravated assault, criminal trespass, and domestic battery when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Ash Street to investigate a complaint of a disturbance. Police say when they arrived, they observed that the window of a door were shattered, with pieces of glass strewn about. Blood could be seen on the door and the kitchen walls.

A juvenile was arrested on January 20 and charged with aggravated battery when police were dispatched to the 300 block of Oswego Street in reference to a report of battery.

Miscellaneous baby clothing, a stroller and car seat/carrier for an infant were reported stolen from a residence in the 300 block of Sauk Trail on January 19.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 500 block of Lakewood Boulevard on January 17 to investigate a possible residential burglary. A resident noticed that a door frame had been damaged and suspects that someone may have entered the residence when the door was open. Nothing was reported missing.

Aquan L. Ecford, 31, 423 Suwanee St., Park Forest, was arrested January 17 and charged with disorderly conduct when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Suwanee Street to investigate report of a disturbance.
