Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A 34-year-old man was arrested on July 23 and charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to residence when police were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Sauk Trail to investigate a report of a subject who had broken a window and entered the residence.

According to police, the resident told them she was asleep in her bedroom when she heard glass breaking. She said she heard someone inside of her house and walked out to the hallway and saw a man later identified as Curtis B. Berry, 34, 128 Westwood Dr., Park Forest. She yelled, "What are you doing in here?" The subject allegedly turned his head toward her and said, "I didn't do anything wrong, I didn't do anything wrong," according to police. The subject then walked to the kitchen, exiting the residence through the south side utility room door, according to police.

Police located and stopped Berry, who matched the description of the offender, walking west on Miami Street at Blackhawk Drive. Police observed a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath and his speech was slurred when he spoke, according to police.

Police interviewed him the next day and he told them that he had been drinking beer and vodka and walked from his friend's house in Richton Park to a residence on Sauk Trail, according to police. Thinking that the residence was his, he allegedly entered and said he was confronted by an unknown female, according to police. He said at that point he realized the house was not his, turned around and left, according to police. Police say he told them he was so intoxicated that he did not know how he broke the window.
