Non-Partisan Local Government Forums Continue


Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Committee for Non-Partisan Local Government in Park Forest has held three candidates' forums for those running for the office of Village President (Mayor), Village Trustee, and Library Trustee.  The last, held February 25 in Park Forest Village Hall, was sponsored by the Far South Suburban NAACP.  Park Forest resident Rev. Lawrence Balckful is president of the chapter.  Judge Ray Funderburk moderated the forum, which lasted almost 4 hours.

Three candidates' forums remain.  The next forum will be held Sunday, March 11, and will be sponsored by the Park Forest FOCUS.  Judge Funderburk is scheduled to moderate this forum as swell.  Other groups sponsoring future forums include Friends of the Library on March 18, and the Park Forest Cooperatives on March 25.

Members of the public are invited to attend and ask written questions.  Forums held at Village Hall will be televised on cable channel 4.

Forum for Prairie State College Board of Directors Candidates 

Additionally, a forum for candidates running for the board of directors of Prairie State College will be held Saturday March 10 from 1 to 3 pm in the board room of Park Forest Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive, Park Forest.   All are welcome to this meeting which is sponsored by the Homewood-Flossmoor League of Women Voters and the League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area.

Seven candidates are vying for two seats on this board.
