Chicago —(ENEWSPF)—August 28, 2015. Attorney General Lisa Madigan today announced that an Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) parole agent was arrested on charges of fraud and official misconduct for allegedly falsifying parolee case management reports.
Stanley Orndorff, 47, of Danville, was charged today in Champaign County Circuit Court on one count of Official Misconduct and one count of Wire Fraud, both class 3 felonies. If convicted, he faces up to five years in the IDOC.
Madigan alleged that Orndorff, currently on administrative leave from his job as senior parole agent with the IDOC, falsified parolee case management reports to indicate he was performing his required job duties when he was not. Madigan said an IDOC investigation revealed that on multiple occasions in 2015, Orndorff submitted parolee management reports claiming he was holding in-person meetings with parolees. However, GPS data from his state-issued vehicle and parolee interviews show he was spending most work days at locations not related to his casework.
“As a parole officer, the defendant is responsible for monitoring individuals and ensuring they comply with the law,” said Madigan. “By failing to do his job, he potentially put communities at risk.”
Orndorff posted bond set at $50,000, and his next court appearance is set for Sept. 4.
Assistant Attorney General Jonas Harger and Associate Director Louis J. Dolce are handling the case for Madigan’s Public Integrity Bureau. The investigation was conducted in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Corrections.
The public is reminded that the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
