Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.
An arrest does not mean that a person is guilty. All those arrested are presumed innocent until proven guilty. A business owner in the 300 block of Illinois Street reported a check he did not write or give authority to cash in the amount of $1500.15 written against his business bank account on July 22.
A window of a residence in the 300 block of Nassau Street was reported shattered on July 27.
A television and two air mattresses were reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Gentry Street on July 27.
An officer patrolling in the first block of Park Street discovered a vehicle missing all four tires and rims on July 28.
Police were dispatched to the first block of Apple Lane on July 28 to investigate a report of a landscaping brick wall and a front lawn being damaged apparently by a vehicle driving through the lawn, according to police.
Philisa A. Brown, 43, 54 Cherry St., Park Forest, was arrested on July 28 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to report an accident to police, and no insurance when an officer investigating a hit-and-run accident discovered a vehicle parked in the first block of McGarity Street. According to police, the vehicle was similar in description to a suspect vehicle that had allegedly driven onto a front lawn on Cherry Street, causing damage to the lawn and landscaping bricks, according to police.
A resident told police on July 28 that he received two letters in the mail from Sprint informing him that a Total Equipment Protection Plan was opened in his name and that someone had applied for a line of credit was denied. The resident told police that he did not open any accounts with Sprint.
A resident contacted police on July 30 after her bank discovered a purchase made for $1033.49 at a gas station in Muenster, Indiana. The bank further advised that an additional purchase in the amount of $825.72 at a gas station in Dyer, Indiana was attempted. Police are investigating.
Cheryl Hopkins, 47, 274 E. 157th St., Harvey, was arrested on July 30 and charged with unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance when police were dispatched to the area of Elm Street and court E-5 in reference to a report of a suspicious vehicle.
An officer on patrol in a vehicle in the area of Central Park Avenue and Sauk Trail on July 30 heard a dispatch informing Richton Park Police Department officers that a male subject was walking back and forth in front of a daycare center in the 3600 block of Sauk Trail with his pants down, exposing his genitals and buttocks, and that he could be seen clearly by children and staff through the front window of the daycare center. The officer immediately located a male subject matching the description given by dispatch, according to police, and assisted Richton Park Police in the arrest of the individual using a Taser device.
Police were dispatched to the 200 block of Sauk Trail on July 30 when delivery drivers reported a theft of labor or services. The delivery drivers brought items totaling $108.49 in value to a residence in that block. Someone inside the home advised the delivery drivers to take the items to the back door, which they did, and meet them at the front door of the residence for payment. No one ever came to the front door to deliver payment, according to police. Police are investigating.
A red and black framed Mongoose 10-speed bicycle was reported stolen from outside a business in the 100 block of South Orchard Drive on July 31.
A vehicle parked in the 400 block of Suwanee Street was reported vandalized by scratches and dents around the entire vehicle on August 1.
A resident told police on August 3 that she received a fraudulent bill from Comcast in the amount of $851.25. The bill was in reference to an account opened in 2013 in the resident’s name in Olympia Fields.
The resident informed police that she had lived in Park Forest for approximately 10 years and had never lived in Olympia Fields.
Fraudulent charges made against a MasterCard account in excess of $700 were reported to the Park Forest Police Department on August 4.
