Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)–Editor’s Note: We continue our reporting on news from police reports. Besides covering the many stories from around Park Forest that otherwise might go unnoticed, we want to bring more complete coverage of police reports than is reported by other local media.

Jermaine T. Fleming, 37, 310 Blackhawk Dr., Park Forest, was arrested on August 27 and issued municipal citations charging use of cell phone while driving and possession of cannabis when an officer observed Fleming driving west on Sauk Trail toward Blackhawk Drive holding a cell phone in his right hand, with the cell phone next to his ear, according to police. According to police, the officer who stopped Fleming could smell a strong odor of fresh cannabis emanating from the interior of the vehicle. Police also recovered a stack of credit cards with different women’s names on them. Police retained the credit cards for investigatory purposes. While conducting and inventorying of the trunk, police observed two white or cream colored purses which were unzipped. The purses contained a large assortment of miscellaneous credit cards and ID cards bearing different women’s names. These were retained as evidence and brought back to the Park Forest Police Department for further investigation. After investigating, detectives learned that two of the IDs recovered from Fleming’s vehicle were victims of burglaries to motor vehicles in Matteson, Illinois. The purses, credit cards and ID cards were turned over to the Matteson Police Department for their investigation. Fleming’s vehicle was seized per village ordinance. According to police, Fleming has 15 prior arrests with 10 convictions relating to "dangerous drugs."

Victor L. Cain, 45, 42 Woodland Glen, Park Forest, was arrested on August 27 and charged with trespassing and retail theft when police were dispatched to a business in the 400 block of Sauk Trail in reference to a solicitor complaint. According to police, Cain allegedly stole some hats from the business and walked across the street to a gas station. Police located Cain who was in possession of four brand-new Chicago Bulls baseball caps, according to police.

A vehicle parked in the 300 block of Oswego Street was reported vandalized with scratches along the driver’s side door on August 28.

A wallet was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 200 block of Nauvoo Street on August 28.

Daswon A. Dawson, 19, 22512 Lawndale Ave., Richton Park, was arrested on August 28 and issued a municipal ticket charging possession of cannabis when police were dispatched to the 400 block of Suwanee Street to investigate a complaint of subjects in front of a residence smoking cannabis. A juvenile was also arrested and transported to a Juvenile Detention Facility in Chicago.

An officer responded to the Park Forest Police Department on August 28 to investigate a report of theft. A resident told police that she discovered several items missing from her wallet after a cookout at her residence with several family and friends.

Jamille L. Walker, 21, 1831 218th St., Sauk Village, and Antwaun J. Lipscomb, 30, 228 Arrowhead St., Park Forest, were arrested on August 28 and charged with criminal trespass to a vehicle when an officer observed the two acting suspiciously in the parking lot of a business in the 2500 block of Western Avenue, according to police.

Police responded to a business in the 100 block of South Orchard Drive on August 29 to investigate a report of retail theft. According to police, an employee observed a woman entered the store carrying a purse that appeared flat, as if empty. A short time later, the woman left the store and the purse appeared to be stuffed full of unknown items. Police say the woman ran from the store when she made eye contact with the employee, got into a vehicle, and the vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed.

Two Gateway computers, a PlayStation 3 game system, an Xbox 360 game system, and two pair of Nike Air Jordan shoes were reported stolen during a residential burglary at a residence in the 400 block of Indiana Street on August 29.

An officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on August 29 to investigate a report of identity theft. A resident told police that she was advised by her employer that someone attempted to file for unemployment in her name. Police are investigating.

Kevin J. Tuggle, 23, 3554 Western Ave., Park Forest, was arrested on August 30 and charged with misdemeanor unlawful use of weapons when an officer patrolling in the area of Court H-3 off Western Avenue observed a group of subjects standing in the common area near the residences. The officer was drawn to this area due to the recent high increase of crime in the area consisting of several reckless discharge calls for service, according to police.

Police were dispatched to the first block of Main Street on August 31 at 4:04 AM to investigate a robbery. Police met the victim who was not wearing a shirt and was bleeding from the head, with blood running down his head and covering his face and chest, according to police. The man told them he had been communicating with a subject on and online chat room and the two men agreed to meet. The man was provided a Park Forest address, entered the address into his GPS and drove to that location, which was in the area of Court C-7 in the 200 block of Dogwood Street. A subject came out of a unit and approached the vehicle. The victim recognized the subject from his profile. The man got into the victim’s vehicle and, after approximately 10 min. of conversation, allegedly demanded that the victim gave him his possessions. Fearing that the man had a gun, the victim handed him his wallet. The man then allegedly attempted to take the victims cell phone and a struggle ensued, according to police. The man then allegedly pulled out a short black metal club from under his coat and began striking the victim on the head with the club. Police have suspect information and are investigating.

Deshawn M. Brown, 24, 343 N. Bradley Dr., Chicago Heights, was arrested on August 31 and issued a municipal citation charging possession of cannabis when police observed a vehicle traveling southbound on Western Avenue from Beacon Boulevard that did not have a functioning rear registration plate light, according to police. Brown was a passenger in the vehicle, according to police.

A number of copper pipes were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of Sherman Street during a residential burglary on August 31.

Shaquille D. Reeves, 20, 214 Nashua St., Park Forest, was arrested on September 1 and charged with retail theft when police responded to a business in the 100 block of South Orchard Drive in reference to a report of retail theft.

Purvis A. Ingram, 35, 22127 Belmont Rd., Richton Park, was arrested on September 1 and charged with felony aggravated DUI, DUI, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving while license was suspended, no insurance, speeding over the posted limit, failure to signal, and possession of cannabis. An officer observed the vehicle Ingram was driving southbound on Western Avenue from Main Street traveling at a high rate of speed, according to police.

An Apple iPhone was reported stolen from a locker at Rich East High School on September 2.

Two juveniles were arrested on September 2 and charged with burglary to motor vehicle and resisting a peace officer when police responded to the 500 block of Homan Avenue to investigate a report of the sounds of glass breaking and three subjects in the area on bicycles.

Police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Indianwood Boulevard on September 2 to investigate a report of residential burglary. And Apple MacBook valued at $1200, a Galaxy Tablet valued at $500, a 42-inch Sharp television, a 32-inch flat-screen television and a PlayStation 4 valued at $400 are among items reported stolen.

Police were dispatched to a residence in the 3400 block of Western Avenue on September 2 to investigate a residential burglary. An Xbox 360 game console valued at $250 and three Xbox 360 controllers were reported stolen.

A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Birch Street was broken into on September 2. According to police, the glove compartment was open, the steering panel was peeled back, the ignition was damaged and the vehicle was unable to start. Police observed a pry mark above the driver’s side door. Nothing was reported stolen from the vehicle.

An officer on patrol in the 300 block of Sauk Trail on September 3 observed an unoccupied vehicle with no license plates and two front windows that were rolled down. After checking the Vehicle Identification Number, police learned that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Chicago.

Police discovered a broken window at a residence in the 200 block of Allegheny Street on September 3.

An officer was dispatched to the Park Forest Police Department on September 3 to investigate a report of fraud. According to police, a resident reported checking her credit account and discovered two unauthorized charges each in the amount of $699.55 which were processed by PayPal. Police are investigating.

Police were dispatched to the 400 block of Lakewood Boulevard to investigate a residential burglary on September 3. According to police, the resident arrived home to discover items thrown on her bedroom and living room floors. Nothing appeared to be missing from the residence, according to police.

Alberto C. Barbosa, 28, 18346 Morris Ave., Homewood, was arrested on September 3 and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and issued citations charging driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation or possession of alcoholic liquor by a driver, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and driver’s license not on person/failure to display. Police were dispatched to a report of a reckless driver who was allegedly swerving all over the road, and then parking the vehicle in the first block of Norwood Boulevard, where police discovered Barbosa in the driver’s seat of the vehicle, according to police.

An Apple iPhone 4 was reported stolen from a purse at Rich East High School on September 4.

A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a truck parked at a business in the 2200 block of Western Avenue on September 4.
