CHICAGO–(ENEWSPF)–March 11, 2013. U.S. Senator Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) today hailed the opening of the new Joliet VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic.
“As a 24-year veteran of the U.S. Navy Reserve, my commitment is to make sure our military veterans get the best medical care available,” Senator Kirk said. “I am thrilled to announce that, more than five years after area veterans began an effort to expand veteran health services in the region, the VA will open the doors on the new Joliet mega-clinic at the site of the old Silver Cross Hospital Emergency Room. This would not have been possible without the leadership of local Veteran Service Organizations and the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission. This 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art new clinic will provide the highest possible level of care to thousands of deserving veterans in Will, Grundy, Kendall, and Kankakee Counties.”
The new Joliet VA is six times larger than the previous Joliet VA, and will offer a wide variety of services including: primary care, women’s healthcare, physical, occupational, and speech therapies, health education, diagnostic imaging, mental health treatment, audiology, and eye care services. Shuttles to and from the Hines VA Hospital will be available. The new Joliet VA is expected to hold its grand opening ceremony in May.
