ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update, November 17, 2012


KABUL, Afghanistan–(ENEWSPF)–November 17, 2012 – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader in Kandahar province today.

The arrested leader is believed to have coordinated the movement and storage of machine guns, weapons, and ammunition to support the Taliban insurgency. 

During the operation, the security force also detained one other suspected insurgent.

In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

East

Afghan Provincial Response Company Ghazni, enabled by coalition forces, detained one suspected insurgent and seized a cache of weapons, homemade explosives and IED-making materials in Ghazni province yesterday. All discovered items were destroyed on site.

South

Afghan and coalition forces discovered and disabled seven victim-operated IEDs during a combined dismounted patrol in Kandahar province Wednesday. The combined force destroyed all found IEDs, each consisting of several kilograms of homemade explosives with pressure plates, at the location.
