Occupiers Nationwide Demand PNC Bank Let Minneapolis Family Return Home

PITTSBURGH—(ENEWSPF)—June 20, 2012.  Occupy Pittsburgh will participate in a national day of solidarity with the Cruz family, whose Minnesota home went into foreclosure when PNC Bank mishandled an online payment earlier this year.

Since April 30, Occupy Homes in Minnesota has been working with the Cruz family.  Although PNC executives have acknowledged their error and repeatedly told Cruz supporters they are working on a solution, there has been no follow through on their promises.  PNC Bank refuses to work with the family, and instead cooperates with Freddie Mac, resulting in police raids against home and 23 Occupier arrests in less than a week.
“Despite assurances that they are working to resolve the situation, PNC Bank has refused to accept the documents necessary for the loan to be modified.  So we are going with Alejandra and David Cruz to make a hand-delivery to PNC’s headquarters,” said Anthony Newby, an organizer with Occupy Homes MN who will travel with the family.

The Cruz family will arrive at the PNC bank headquarters in Pittsburgh accompanied by local supporters, while  others rally across the country to demand that PNC live up to their word and work to find a solution to help the family avoid foreclosure.  Rallies are planned in Atlanta, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Detroit, Gainesville, Greensboro, Milwaukee, New York, Newark, Philadelphia and St. Louis.

In Pittsburgh, members of the Cruz family and supporters will rally in Market Square and march to PNC Headquarters at 1 p.m. Eastern Time.

In Minneapolis supporters will demonstrate at the Cruz family home (4044 Cedar Ave S, Minneapolis, MN) at 6 p.m. Central Time.
