Washington, DC—(ENEWSPF)—June 26, 2014. U.S. Congresswoman Robin Kelly (D-IL) has joined the House General Aviation Caucus, a vehicle for Members of Congress to learn about general aviation and legislative issues affecting small airports.
“The Second District is very diverse, not just in terms of the demographics of our residents, but also in geography and modes of transportation,” Rep. Kelly said. “As the Southland prepares for a third airport to expand our state’s economic and aviation capacity, there’s no doubt that general aviation will play a critical role in that expansion.”
Rep. Kelly added: “General aviation airports such as Lansing Municipal, Greater Kankakee Airport and Bult Field provide important niche air services to small and mid-sized businesses which operate their own aircraft yet want to avoid the cost and congestion of flying out of larger airports,” Rep. Kelly said.
The bipartisan House General Aviation Caucus was formed in 2009 to promote the importance of general aviation to the nation’s economy and transportation system. Today, the caucus has more than 200 members, making it among the largest caucuses in the U.S. House of Representatives.
