CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—December 31, 2012. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL.com, the Bears have fired head coach Lovie Smith. Smith has been the head coach for the past nine seasons.
The Bears were eliminated from playoff contention when the Minnesota Vikings beat the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.
Smith had one year remaining in his contract. The Bears have reached the playoffs three times during Smith’s tenure.
