Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- State Rep. Anthony DeLuca, D-Chicago Heights, will be partnering with the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago on to promote reviving trees in the area, on Thursday, August 24, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Thorn Creek Woods Nature Preserve, located at 247 Monee Road in Park Forest.

“This is an opportunity for local residents to stop by and discuss any concerns and issues with me, while picking up a free tree to plant at their home,” DeLuca said. “We will be giving out several different types of trees that are native to the area, and this is a great opportunity for anyone in the community who is looking to restore our natural ecosystem.”

In an effort to encourage environmental friendly behavior, DeLuca and the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago will be giving away 50 free trees, including Red Oak, Bur Oak, Pin Oak and Shingle Oak. The trees are native to the area, and are considered to be powerful storm water trees, which can reduce flooding.

For more information, please contact DeLuca’s full-time constituent service office at 708-754-7900 or [email protected].
