Black Women and Girls Symposium “Securing the Bag” to be Held on Friday, August 24


Congresswoman Robin KellyEvent Aims to Build Financial Freedom and Generational Wealth

Representative Robin Kelly, Co-Chair, Congressional Caucus on Black Women and Girls, will host a symposium featuring some of Chicago’s leading financial experts offering guidance on money, financial planning and building substantial financial resources to pass down to future generations. Through panels and interactive sessions, the symposium will also address the discrimination and the gender-based wage gap that has placed Black women at a severe economic disadvantage regardless of their level of education or professional attainment.

The symposium will take place on Friday, August 24 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at The Chicago State University – Breakey Theater (located in Douglas Hall), 9501 South King Drive in Chicago. The event is open to the public.

In addition to Representative Kelly, speakers to include Dorri McWhorter, CEO, YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago and Marcia Cantarella, daughter of Civil Rights icon Whitney Young.
