American Muslims for Palestine to Celebrate Palestinian Heritage with Chicago Parade on May 9

CHICAGO—(ENEWSPF)—May 4, 2015 — American Muslims for Palestine (AMP), a national education and advocacy organization based in Palos Hills, IL, will hold the first-ever Palestinian heritage parade in downtown Chicago, at Columbus Drive and Monroe Street to Columbus Drive and Roosevelt Road beginning at noon on Saturday, May 9.

The event, celebrating Palestinians’ cultural and historical heritage in the Holy Land, also commemorates 67 years since the Palestinian Nakba, or “the Catastrophe” — the beginning of the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians from their homeland. The parade will feature floats, folk dancing and songs, a recreation of a Palestinian wedding and models of Palestinian religions sites.

The American Muslims for Palestine is a national, grassroots organization whose mission is to educate the public about issues related to Palestine and it’s rich cultural and historical heritage. AMP has chapters throughout the country and offices in Palos Hills, IL and Washington DC. For more information, go to www.ampalestine.org.
