Park Forest Area League of Women Voters Hosts Meeting on the EPA Clean Power Plan on Tuesday, November 18

Park Forest, IL—(ENBEWSPF)– November 5, 2014. The League of Women Voters of the Park Forest Area will host a meeting to provide information on the EPA’s Clean Power Plan and efforts here in Illinois to implement the plan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 18 at the Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard in Park Forest.

Caroline Wooten, Conservation Organizer for the Illinois Sierra Club, will speak on the EPA’s Clean Power Plan. The plan will create the first ever federal limits on carbon pollution from existing power plants. Groups here in Illinois, including the Sierra Club, are working to make sure that the Clean Power Plan is implemented in Illinois in a manner that prioritizes clean energy development over fossil fuels and nuclear energy. In her work with the Sierra Club, Ms. Wooten focuses on grassroots campaigns to move Illinois beyond fossil fuels and prioritize renewable energy development.

The meeting is open to the public and anyone interested in the topic is encouraged to attend to learn more about clean energy initiatives.
