‘Do the Math’ Free Movie & Discussion at UUCC on March 28

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—March 21, 2014. The Unitarian Universalist Community Church (UUCC), 70 Sycamore Drive, Park Forest, will screen the documentary movie ‘Do the Math’ on Friday, March 28.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with an optional vegetarian pot luck dinner.  The movie will begin at 7 p.m. with a discussion following the film.

It’s simple math: we can emit 565 more gigatons of carbon dioxide and stay below 2°C of warming — anything more than that risks catastrophe for life on earth. The only problem? Burning the fossil fuel that corporations now have in their reserves would result in emitting 2,795 gigstons of carbon dioxide – five times the safe amount.

‘Do the Math’ is about the rising movement to change the terrifying math of our climate crisis and challenge the fossil fuel industry. The documentary follows author, educator, environmentalist, and Co-founder of 350.org, Bill McKibben and the growing groundswell of climate activists who are fighting to save our planet from disastrous climate change.

Free coffee, tea and popcorn will be provided. Bring a vegetarian dish for the pot-luck dinner or a snack to share if you wish.

The event is free and open to the public. Optional donations will be accepted.

UUCC is located just east of Western and south of Steger Road. For additional information, call 708-481-5399 or visit www.uuccpf.org.
