Park Forest Public Library to Host a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Program on Saturday, January 18

Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)—January 12, 2013. The Park Forest Public Library, 400 Lakewood Boulevard, will present a special Martin Luther King, Jr. film on Saturday, January 18 at 10:30 a.m. The film chronicles Dr. King’s life and work in the Civil Rights Movement. A discussion will follow the film.

Martin Luther King Jr.’s spirit really comes through here as his friends/colleagues recount their experiences with him and what his legacy means to them. Footage of him in more casual moments and from the earliest to the last years of activism also round out the picture of his life. His powerful oratory and charisma is on full display. The interviews are dated but do not detract from the power of his message. This film is not a documentary as much as it is a recounting of Martin Luther King’s tremendous accomplishments in the public sphere that went a long way toward healing some of America’s oldest spiritual wounds.

The event is free and open to the public.

Please note that the Library will be closed on Sunday, January 19 and Monday, January 20 in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday.
