Dynamic Leadership Lecture Series with Father Pfleger and Congresswoman Kelly


University Park, IL-(ENEWSPF)- Governors State University is sponsoring a Dynamic Leadership Lecture Series that is free and open to the public. The featured speakers will discuss aspects of management and governance related to their own lives as successful leaders.

The first speaker in the series is Father Michael L. Pfleger. His lecture, “Leading a Community: Advocating for the Disenfranchised,” will be on Monday, June 3, from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in Center for Performing Arts, on the GSU campus.

Father Pfleger, Senior Pastor of Saint Sabina Church in Chicago, is known for his commitment to equality and passionate stance against injustice. He has been recognized for his fight against alcohol and tobacco billboards, drugs, and racism. His work has been profiled in the national media and he has been honored for his achievements with numerous regional and national awards.

Ana Dutra will speak on “Developing Tomorrow’s Leaders,” on Wednesday, June 5, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Engbretson Hall.

Ana Dutra has served as Chief Executive Officer of Leadership and Talent Consulting at Korn/Ferry International since February 2008. She has more than 18 years of consulting experience, most recently at Accenture, where she was Managing Director of Accenture’s Organization Strategy practice.

Phillip Moeller will present “Creating a Shared Vision,” on Wednesday, June 12, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Engbretson Hall.

Moeller has served as President for Holland LP from 1987 to 2012. Headquartered in Crete, Illinois, with 650 employees, Holland LP has been a supplier to the global railroad industry since 1935. Holland LP is the largest rail welding contractor in the world. Holland LP provides unique track testing services, manufactures rail maintenance equipment, cleans and repairs railroad cars, and services locomotives. They design, build and operate rail and truck transloading systems as well as design and manufacture railcar components.

Ronald E. Daly will present “The Leadership of Change,” on Monday, June 17, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., also in Engbretson Hall.

Daly is currently a board member of the AARP, the AARP Foundation, Metropolis Strategies, Loyola University of Chicago, and U. S. Cellular. He worked for R. R. Donnelley for 38 years, rising from the factory floor to the presidency of Donnelley’s largest business unit. Daly retired from Donnelley and then became CEO of Oce, North America. He is an adjunct professor of strategy and leadership at Loyola of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business and a graduate of GSU.

Patrick Rea will speak on “Is There Difference between Leadership in Military and Corporate Leadership?” on Wednesday, June 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Engbretson Hall.

Rea has a long and distinguished career of professional achievements and dedicated public service. He is a retired Brigadier General in the U.S. Army Reserve and has served as Village Clerk of Tinley Park and as an elected village trustee. He was Regional Administrator for SBA’s Midwest Region from 2003 to 2009 and received the 2004 Secretary of Defense Medal of Outstanding Public Service Award. 

Congresswoman Robin Kelly, of Illinois’ 2nd District, will be the final speaker in this series, on Monday, June 24, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., in Center for Performing Arts. Kelly will present “Political Leadership through Turbulent Times.”

As a former State Representative, Kelly has extensive legislative experience. She also served as Chief Administrative Officer of Cook County, where she managed the day-to-day operations and policy implementation. Kelly was also the first African American woman to serve as chief of staff for a constitutional officer in Illinois when she was in the Illinois State Treasurer’s Office. Issues important to Kelly include consumer protection, economic development, crime victim protection, and public safety.
