Chicago Heights, IL-(ENEWSPF)- The Marian Catholic High School Endowment Golf Classic, held Monday, Sept. 8, 2014 at famed Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, Ill, netted more than $121,000 exceeding its $100,000 goal.

The fund has grown to become the largest scholarship within the Marian Catholic institutional endowment portfolio enabling the school to award more than $100,000 in scholarships to students of solid academic promise, demonstrating financial need.

This year’s event, co-chaired by Greg Underwood, Flossmoor, Ill., and Mark Peifer, Munster, Ind., was a tremendous success with 183 golfers on both courses, enjoying the day with good friends and colleagues. Family, friends and community members flocked to Olympia Fields from far and wide to support Marian Catholic for its 25th anniversary event.

“We could not have asked for a better day for the event to take place,” said Underwood.  “It was truly a team effort, with all of our supporters, it gave us that extra push to reach our goal of exceeding the $3 million mark.”

Guests joined the golfers in the evening for dinner and opportunities to bid on high-end silent auction items plus a performance by Eric From of ArtBeat Live who created two pieces of art to music; the Chicago Skyline and the Blackhawks logo.

Since its founding in 1989, the Marian Catholic Golf Classic has grown on a yearly basis to develop the future through the endowment fund.  "While every Endowment Golf Classic is an exciting event; this year held a special tone of celebration.” said Sr. Judine Hilbing, O.P., President of Marian Catholic.  “Not only did we commemorate the 25th Anniversary of the EGC, we also exceeded our goal of elevating the endowment to the $3 million benchmark."

This level of giving is possible because of the loyal support from our MCHS community and stewardship of the Dominican Sisters and the Board of Directors, Sister Judine added.
