Washington, D.C.--(ENEWSPF)--June 29, 2009. Senator Roland W. Burris today announced that a $2,000 grant award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) has been awarded to WTTW in Chicago.
WTTW is a recipient of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's My Source Community Impact Award for Engagement, which is given to stations for their dedication and commitment to their communities by offering citizens original and important programming.
WTTW is being honored for their programming and services related to the arts. WTTW has produced over 1,300 programs containing stories showcasing Chicago artists, painters, musicians, visual artists, and dancers. With the support of the Illinois Arts Council, WTTW created an expansive searchable archive by means of WTTW Arts Online in 2008. The station's devotion to the arts in Chicago is also present in its Arts Across Illinois magazine series.
"I am pleased that WTTW right here in Chicago is being awarded this valuable grant award," said Senator Burris. "For years, WTTW has been integral to providing the citizens of Chicago and Illinois groundbreaking and informative programs. This award ensures that WTTW will continue to be an essential source of news and innovative programming for communities all across the state."
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting is a non-profit corporation created by Congress in 1967. The CPB promotes and invests in public telecommunications services for Americans.
