Chicago, IL–(ENEWSPF)–

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

A convicted prostitute who accused Democratic Lt. Governor nominee Scott Lee Cohen of threatening her with a knife told the Chicago Sun-Times today she “does not believe he is fit to hold any public office.’’

The statement, issued through famed celebrity attorney Gloria Allred, is the first public comment from Amanda J. Eneman, Cohen’s former live-in girlfriend.

“Ms. Eneman was Scott Lee Cohen’s girlfriend and lived with him for about a year, some four or five years ago,” said Allred, who has represented the purported girlfriends of golfer Tiger Woods among other well-known clients.

“Based on her personal observations during the course of their relationship and his behavior, Ms. Eneman does not believe that he is fit to hold any public office, including that of Lt. Governor,” Allred said.

Allred said her 29-year-old client “has no further comment at this time and does not wish to be contacted.”

Cohen could not immediately be reached for comment.

From NBC 5 Chicago:

The ex-girlfriend of embattled Lt. Gov. nominee Scott Lee Cohen released a statement through attorneys Saturday evening saying the pawnbroker-cum-politician is unfit to hold public office.

The statement, released by high-profile California attorney Gloria Allred, acknowledges that Amanda Eneman lived with Cohen "some 4-5 years ago."

"Based on her personal observations, during the course of their relationship and his behavior, Ms. Eneman does not believe that he is fit to hold any public office, including that of Lt. Governor," the statement read.

Eneman accused Cohen of holding a knife to her throat several years ago, but the charges were dropped when she failed to appear in court.

And from the Chicago Tribune:

The ex-girlfriend of embattled Democratic lieutenant governor nominee Scott Lee Cohen put out a statement through her lawyer this evening saying Cohen is not fit to hold public office.

Amanda Eneman, 29, issued the statement through Gloria Allred, a high-profile California attorney. Cohen, a pawnbroker, was accused of holding a knife to the throat of his then-girlfriend Eneman, a convicted prostitute, in October 2005. Charges were dismissed after Eneman failed to show up in court.

Allred said Eneman lived with Cohen for “about a year some four or five years ago.”

“Based on her personal observations during the course of their relationship and his behavior, Miss Eneman does not believe that he is fit to hold any public office, including that of lieutenant governor,” Allred told the Tribune.

The Eneman statement comes after Cohen said Thursday that Democratic voters who nominated him Tuesday needed to hear from his ex-wife and ex-girlfriend before judging him.
