Monrovia, Liberia–(ENEWSPF)– President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, on the invitation of the Government of Equatorial Guinea, departed Monrovia on December 7 to participate in the inauguration of the President re-elect, H.E. Teodoro Obiang Nguema. The Liberian President will return home on December 9, 2009.
President Johnson Sirleaf is expected to use the opportunity of the visit to sign, with Equatorial Guinea, a General Agreement on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation. President Nguema was a guest as Liberia celebrated its 162nd Independence Anniversary in Gbarnga, Bong County on July 26, 2009.
President Nguema, who has been in office for 30 years, won a landslide victory with 95.4 percent of the vote in last week’s presidential poll in Equatorial Guinea.
During the President's absence from the country, Hon. Ambulai B. Johnson, the Minister of Internal Affairs, as Chairman of the Cabinet, will coordinate the affairs of Government in consultation with Vice President Joseph N. Boakai.
