Kids Find Man's Body on Old Plank Trail

Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– Four juveniles called police Thursday afternoon at 4:29 p.m. when they found a man’s body lying on the ground in the bushes on Old Plank Trail near Western Avenue. The juveniles, ages 10 to 14, told police they dialed 911 immediately when they checked for a pulse and found none.

Police and paramedics checked the subject and found no signs of life. He was wearing a black bike helmet, red shirt, red shorts, two socks and white tennis shoes. A blue Track 7100 men's mountain bike was lying on his left leg. Police observed a vertical scar from a previous surgery at the center of his chest.

The man was identified as Michael A. Bell, 83 Water Street, Park Forest. His body was transported to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office where police say it was determined that he died of natural causes.

He was 51.
