Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– A Park Forest man was charged with first degree murder Saturday in connection with the July 3 death of his 3-month-old daughter.

According to a press release issued by the Park Forest Police Department, on July 2, 2010, Park Forest Police and Fire Units responded to the 100 block of Hemlock Street regarding a report of a non-responsive infant. The child was revived and transported to St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. The 3-month-old girl was later taken to Provena St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.

On Saturday, July 3, the child, Nevaeh Hunt, age 3 months, was pronounced dead at 11:08 p.m., the release said.

An autopsy was performed by the Will County Coroner’s Office on Monday, July 5, and showed the child died as the result of head trauma, the release said. The coroner ruled the death a homicide, according to the release.

The Park Forest Police Department’s Investigations Division, with assistance from the Illinois State Police Child Homicide Unit, conducted a death investigation into the matter, the release said.

On July 10, the father of the child, 19-year-old Kejuan Hunt, of the 100 block of Hemlock Street in Park Forest, was charged with first degree murder, the release said. Kejuan Hunt is scheduled to appear in the 6th District Court in Markham on July 11 for a bond hearing, the release said.

Kejuan Hunt is also charged with theft and battery on an unrelated matter, the release said.

HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF THE PHRASE INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY???? I KNOW THIS YOUNG MAN PERSONALLY, AND IT'S HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE THE DEATH OF THE CHILD WAS SOMETHING HE DID INTENTIONALLY...GIVEN HE IS A 19 YEAR OLD PARENT, BUT HE'S ALSO THE SAME KID WHO WORKED 40HRS A WEEK IN HIGH SCHOOL TO HELP SUPPORT HIS FIRST CHILD. HE IS NOT THE HEARTLESS ANIMAL THAT PEOPLE ARE TRYING TO PAINT HIM TO BE!!

These young women need to know who they are laying down with. There had to be some indication that he was disturbed and not father material prior to laying down with this boy. Where was the mother - although she will suffer due to the loss of her child, she should be held responsible in some way. To be honest, I know the family of the mother. They have always been way too liberal with their children. This guy was probably spending the night while the mother was still in high school. What about trying to teach our daughters what to look for in a man...responsibility, honesty, decency and respect. We need to be mothers to our children and not just their friends!

This makes me so angry. Teenagers are consistly having babies and do not know or appreciate the fact that they can have children. As my husband and I wait for a baby to adopt, it bothers us to hear when a baby is not loved or cared about by their parents or the fact that their parents go to the level of murder. At 19, he should not be a father. Where are his parents? How was he raised? Where was the teenage mother of this baby? This is horrible and it is happening EVERYWHERE. God bless that child. I know she is in a bettter place.
