Lena Marie Ostenburg, nee Giacomini, died on December 15, 2018, at her residence in Park Forest, Illinois. She was born in Springfield, Illinois, on March 23, 1921. Aside from a brief period in her early youth when her parents relocated to their native Italy, she lived her entire life in Springfield prior moving to Park Forest in 2012.

She married Roy L. Ostenburg on April 29, 1939. He preceded her in death in 1988.

She is survived by two sons, James L. Ostenburg (Norma) of Springfield, and John A. Ostenburg (Jacqueline) of Park Forest. She also is survived by grandchildren Michael Ostenburg (Kimberly) of Jacksonville, Beverly Brauer (Kurt) of Springfield, and Jonathon Ostenburg (Gina) of DeKalb; by step-grandchildren Michelle Dombach (Lennie) of Martinez, California, and Renee Costanza of Chicago; by great-grandchildren Megan and Becky Brauer, and Jason, Jenna, Jamie, Jordan and Justin Ostenburg; by step-great-grandchildren Michael (Jennifer) and Matt (Jessica) Lacey, Lennie and Jasmine Dombach, Uma and Vito Costanza; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Costantino and Caterina Temperelli Giacomini, by granddaughter Sharon Ostenburg and step-grandson Richard Jackson, and by siblings Dominic Giacomini, Helen Giacomini, Linda Gent, Salina Bedolli, and Merino Giacomini.

Before relocating to Park Forest, she had been a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Church in Springfield; in Park Forest, she was a parishioner of St. Irenaeus Church. At the time of her death, she was a six-year resident of the Victory Center senior community in Park Forest, where she had several friends and acquaintances. She had been an employee of Sangamo Electric Co., International Shoe Co., and Franklin Life Insurance Co., all in Springfield.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Aloysius Church, 2000 E. Sangamon Ave., Springfield, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018, Rev. Clinton Honkomp. OP, officiating, preceded by visitation at the same location beginning at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield.

A memorial service also will be held at St. Irenaeus Church, Indianwood Boulevard at Orchard Drive in Park Forest, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2019, with Rev. Terry Johnson officiating. Staab Funeral Home of Springfield is in charge of arrangements, assisted by Lain-Sullivan Funeral Home of Park Forest.
