Park Forest, IL–(ENEWSPF)– The Kiwanis Club of Park Forest is preparing to assemble the mighty Pankatron again. Five years ago Kiwanis reports began paying laborers to help them assemble the device that can cook and conveyor 366 pancakes in one grilling. Setting up is a two day process, making sure that everything is sparkling clean for the fun.

The 59th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Day will be on Saturday, September 25, 2010 from 7:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The all-you-can-eat-under-the-tent serving hours are from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. tickets are available now at Village Hall, and cost five dollars for adults and two dollars for children under 12. The cost is one dollar more at the door on Saturday. Kiwanis members and volunteers serve pancakes, sausage, milk and coffee.

Proceeds benefit programs such as Key Clubs of local high schools, spastic paralysis research, food services, Park Forest Nurses Child Care and Access to Care Programs, and community youth centers.

Tickets are available at the Recreation and Parks Department, located on the 1st floor of Village Hall, 350 Victory Drive.

About Kiwanis

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Kiwanis Name
The name “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents.” It was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Kee-wanis.

Kiwanians are volunteers changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. No problem is too big or too small. Why? Because working together, members achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone. When you give a child a chance to learn, experience, dream, and succeed, great things happen!

As Kiwanis clubs and members, we see it everyday!

Membership

  • About 8,000 clubs in 96 countries
  • More than 260,000 adult members
  • Approximately 320,000 youth

  • Raise more than $107 million.

Members and clubs have contributed more than $80 million toward the global elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), the leading preventable cause of mental retardation.
