Park Forest, IL—(ENEWSPF)— The Park Forest Nurses Club meets on the third Thursday of each month from September through May at 7:30 pm at Calvary United Protestant Church. Professional speakers are featured at each meeting. We will begin the 2010-11 year with our annual smorgasbord at 6:30 pm September 16. Our guest speaker , Lois Roelofs, PhD, RN, Professor Emerita, Trinity Christian College, Palos Heights, IL., will discuss her newly released memoir, "Caring Lessons: A Nursing Professor's Journey of Faith and and Self" " Caring Lessons" tells the story of a rebellious minister's daughter, reluctant nurse, restless mom, perpetual student, and , eventually ,fun-loving teacher of psychiatric nursing. A book signing will follow with books available for purchase for $13.99. Membership is open all RNs and LPNs active or inactive. Student nurses are also invited to attend . Intervention??"will be the topic of our 9th annual seminar,Saturday, October 16, 2010 from 9am to 1:15pm at the Oak Lawn Hilton.the program will include discussion of "Complete Blood Count with Differential, Red Blood Cell iIdicies ,the Bleeding Patient and Identifying acute cardiac events with Lab Tests. The Park Forest Nurses Club has awarded nursing scholarships annually to students who reside in School Districts 227, 206, and 201U since 1957. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of grade point average, citizenship qualities and goal achievement. The scholarships may be renewed each year for students who continue in nursing programs.
